Health Reform Needs New Leadership

Postby CHUQ on Sat Oct 27, 2007 4:42 am

This is an opinion piece out of Calif.

Health care costs are rising twice as fast as wages. A federal bi-partisan effort to cover low-income children is vetoed on 'ideological' grounds. And a state health care plan is delayed and endangered by budget-weary legislators.

At the beginning of the year, the Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger promised to make this the year of health care reform. It didn't happen during the regular legislative calendar --- thanks to the summertime budget impasse --- so he had to call a special session.

I agree that there needs to be a fresh approach to getting the point across to lawmakers that Americans want a change in our health care system, despite what they feel is an effort to make health care a government run entity.

But if our leaderrship cannot see this in the daily polls, what can be done. I mean these guys watch opinion polls to color their stances on other issues, why not on health? Their is a simple answer--they are not listening to the people or they just dpo not care what we want.

It's clear who is for and who is against affordable healthcare. I don't see much progress until 2008

After the elections will tell who is and who is not. I just hope that the promises were not lies.
