I just want to say that my wife is the best cook I've had the pleasure of knowing. Although she has a hard time finding the right stuff to cook with in America. There is too much processed foods here she says. She made spaghetti the other night and it was delicious. Sorry to all you other cooks out there but you might as well quit working now because you'll never reach her level of perfection. :) :P

I'm sure that both her and many of us here are good cooks...

And like your wife and you, I'm not into the processed foods myself. Partly because I don't like the 'canned' taste of those foods, and part because my hubby is allergic to garlic of which many processed foods, sauces, and dressings contain.

In fact I do alot of canning of my own fruits, veggies, sauces, and preserves versus buying the ready made junk.

But it's a good thing that you're that proud of her cooking abilities. Sounds like not only do both of you have keepers, but you appreciate all the hard work she does as well.

I'm starting to wonder if my family are the only ones eating on this forum. ;)

Anyways, if nobody else is cooking tonight, feel free to come sit at our table. Just make sure you bring your antiacid if you don't handle spicy foods well. LOL! Cause tonight we're having:

Shredded Habanero Chicken Tacos
Steamed Greenbeans, Wax beans, Red peppers, and onions w/butter herb sauce
Triple Chocolate Cake w/Peanutbutter Icing
Lemonade

Oh yea? Well tonight my wife is making this Albanian tortilla wrap using homemade dough and lots of love. :) I'm not a food expert so I can't begin to describe what all is in it but I do know that it'll be delicious.

No, it's just that your meals are so much more interesting.

Last night we had Papa Murphy's pizza, and tonight we will have a frozen Stouffer's skillet meal.

Thanks Coyote...I wouldn't say so much 'interesting' as it's simply my hubby is a picky eater. Add into that he's allergic to garlic, and most American food products contain garlic...Means I have to make most things from scratch so he doesn't end up with an food allergy attack.

Luckily though as picky as he is, he's also willing to try out new recipes/food ideas of mine. As long as it's garlic and seafood free that is. :D

Anyhoo...Tonight's supper plans are one of his favorites:

Pan Seared Pork Tenderloin Medallions w/Stewed Apples-Cranberries
Mashed Potatoes w/pan dripping gravy
Steamed California Blend veggies
Wilted Salad
Home-made Honey Buttermilk Bread w/honeyed butter
Fruit Salad and Anglefood cake
Fruit Punch

I live on my own so one night it's

Steak and pasta salad
next night
stir fried chicken and veges
next
steak and stir fried veges
etc etc

I can't believe how much dessert (sweets) you americans eat.

Actually, I'm not a 'sweets' eater...But my hubby insists that there be dessert with supper...And he's Canadian by the way, not American.

It's the way he was raised (I wasn't, and I'm the American), and as such he expects it to be a 'complete meal', which includes some sort of sweet dessert.

In otherwords, he was raised in the type of family meal atmosphere where all meals were concluded by dessert and hot tea/coffee/cognac...I was raised where desserts were only present at special family get-togethers or as very occassional treats.

So it isn't so much an 'American' thing as it's the old world concept of 'complete meal menus' for some people.
